In the late 90's in Stockholm, Sweden, two of society's rejects decided to start a band. They took Chelios as their band name, paying tribute to the rebellious hockey player. Enamoured with the output of bands like Jane's Addiction and Superchunk but within a Umeå HC-setting, Johan Elmros wrote the songs, sang and played guitar. Glenn Sundell played drums and wrote the lyrics, mainly dealing with the pros and cons of surfing. (The song "Oh Darling" was written as the soundtrack to a feminist magazine.) Chelios made a bunch of gigs around the Stockholm punk rock circuit with a plethora of bassplayers joining then quitting. In january 1997 Johan and Glenn travelled from Stockholm up north to Umeå to get drunk and to record some songs. This is what came out of it.
